Should You Use Rechargeable Batteries for Xbox 360 Controller?

Have you had a chance to use the rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers? Maybe, you have been using disposable Xbox 360 controller batteries ever since you started playing Xbox, so you never thought about using rechargeable batteries.

Let’s admit disposable batteries are way cheaper than rechargeable batteries. Sure, the rechargeable batteries would last longer — all you need is to charge them from time to time. On the contrary, you’ll have to buy disposable batteries for Xbox 360 controller now and then.

I have been thinking about trying out rechargeable Xbox 360 controller batteries for a while but haven’t tried them yet. I want to try out a couple of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers just for the experience.

So, the answer to the question is that you can try out rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers if you haven’t tried them. Even though, I’m not the expert at this and haven’t bought a pair of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers just yet. So please don’t consider it as advice.

I’ll buy a pair of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers just to go through that experience and find out how it goes.

The reason why I might try rechargeable batteries is that I changed the Xbox controller batteries case lately, which made me realize that maybe a lot of batteries that I thought are dead weren’t expired.

Rechargeable Batteries for Xbox 360 Controller: Good and Bad

Well, it depends on the user, but I want you to see the clear picture. Therefore, take a look at the following aspects of using rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers:

A Charger for Rechargeable Batteries

It does seem suitable that you don’t have to run to the supermarket now and then to grab a pair of batteries for playing Xbox, but you must know that you’d need a charger along with rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers. I highly recommend buying a charger along with rechargeable batteries.

Multiple Pairs of Rechargeable Batteries

You might be thinking, you just need a pair of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers, so it’s no big deal. Well, what if your homies stopped by and challenged you to play Tekken or FIFA with them? It might be frustrating to see that you only bought a single pair of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers. If I were to buy rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers, I’d surely buy at least four pairs of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers.

Charging Batteries Beforehand

One of the things that might bug me even if I get a few pairs of rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers is that I would have to charge the batteries after a couple of days. Sure, it’s better than going down to a supermarket to grab a pair of batteries every other day. So I’m sure I won’t mind charging the batteries.

Rechargeable Batteries are more Expensive than Disposable Batteries

It’s sort of given that rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers would be expensive as compared to disposable batteries. The rechargeable batteries are supposed to be a one-time investment (at least for six months to a year) for gamers who play Xbox regularly.

Disposable Batteries are Cheaper

It shouldn’t be a surprise that disposable batteries are way cheaper than rechargeable batteries because they are a one-time thing. Once such batteries die, you would have to buy new ones. The reason I prefer disposable batteries for Xbox controllers is that they’re cheap and affordable, but if you want to go for rechargeable batteries for Xbox 360 controllers, be my guest.

Use Similar Batteries

I’ve read on the official Xbox website that you must be using the same kind of batteries for Xbox controllers, and it goes for both rechargeable and disposable. What it means is that don’t ever pair a rechargeable battery with a disposal battery.

I don’t mix different brands’ batteries either, meaning I won’t use a single disposal battery of the ABCD brand along with a battery from the EFGH brand. I use both the same types of batteries from the same brand.
